I am running the x64 version of Windows Vista Beta 2 on my desktop PC but have come across several problems. Whenever I try to install 64 bit version platform Nvidia drivers, or drivers for my Fata1ity sound card, or open the Internet Explorer (non 64bit one) I receive the error "This application has failed to start because ole32.dll was not found.
I am running the 32 bit version of vista on my laptop and dont experience the same problems. Should I just dump the 64bit version and move to the 32bit version or is this a specific problem that can be solved somehow?
Thanks for any help.
PS: YES, my system IS capable of running 64 bit, the processor is an Athlon 64 3500+

I don't think this is a 64 bit specific issue, nor related to nvidia drivers. sound card drivers. I think it's a problem with files that are needed to support IE corrupted. Try this:
Go to "Start" > "Run" - or hit the key with the flat on it + R> and register the following dll's by using regsvr32 command:
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll?
regsvr32 msxml.dll?
regsvr32 mshtml.dll?
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll?
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll?
regsvr32 urlmon.dll?
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
If this were Windows XP, I'd tell you to run SFC--system file checker to incorporate scanning for the latest service pack files by making these 3 regedits http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html SFC is broken in Vista and I wouldn't be surprised if they just ship it as broken Windows. They have fooled enough people to buy it if they slap the logo on it.
However, currently no one on the file core services team or whatever team is supposed to has been able to fix SFC in Vista so they are recommending that you run it with a switch that doesn't allow it to fix anything--doesn't allow it to replace damaged files with intact ones.
